What is known, and what is not
    • Known: the statement lists "Chest X-ray, 2 views" twice, at $190 each. The after-visit summary shows one chest X-ray, ordered and then read.
    • Not known: whether the hospital's own records show a second X-ray. Only the hospital can say, so the letter asks and does not accuse.
    • Billing would not discuss the account with the Caller. It explained the process: a dispute goes in writing, and the account is held for 30 days, with nothing sent to collections, once the dispute is logged. No hold is in place yet.
    • The statement is not an itemized bill. The itemized bill shows every charge with its code and the date and time it was entered, and only you can ask for it.
    • Stannard Park is a nonprofit, and its financial assistance policy and application are on its website under Billing. Applying is a separate step that needs details of your finances the team was not given.

    Subject
Billing dispute: second chest X-ray charge, account •••2094

Dear Patient Financial Services, I am writing about the statement dated September 14 for my emergency department visit on Saturday, August 22 (account •••2094). I had no insurance for this visit, and the statement shows $1,240 due after your self-pay discount. The statement lists "Chest X-ray, 2 views" twice, at $190 each. My after-visit summary shows one chest X-ray, 2 views. Please review the second charge of $190. If one X-ray was taken, please remove the charge and send me a corrected statement showing a balance of $1,050. If your records show two, please send me the record of each, with the time it was taken. The other four lines are in my after-visit summary: emergency department visit, $480; one chest X-ray, $190; IV hydration, $220; comprehensive metabolic panel, $160. Your billing office says by phone that an account is held for 30 days, with nothing sent to collections, once a written dispute is logged. Please confirm in writing that this account is on hold, and the date the hold began. Sincerely, Jordan Whitaker

    • Aldercove Go ($229, 13.5 lb) was first at the start, on the opening line of Tinybranch Baby's returns page: "90-day returns. Any reason." The store's stroller terms give 30 days and take nothing back once it is opened, so it is one of the 5.

    • Open: 20 funds are on the list, each with a partner who invests at seed19 of 20. All 47 funds the search found were checked, and no other one fits. A 20th needs a wider search or looser terms, such as pre-seed funds: your call.
    • Met: each fund's stage is read on its own website
    • Met: each investor has a reason: a consumer-agent deal they backed
    • Met: an intro email is drafted for every investor on the list
    • Stage: all 19 funds say seed on their own "How we invest" pages.
    • Reason: every deal named is a seed round listed on the fund's own portfolio page.
    • Dropped: Brindle Row Ventures and Sedge Hollow Capital. Both invest at Series A and later now; their portfolio pages still show older seed rounds.
    • Read and left out: Fallowmere Capital. Its own site says its fund is fully invested and it is not taking on new companies. Skerry Point Ventures, read at the same time, is on the list.
    • Ines Varga is a partner at Quillfeather Capital, which shows no address for her. Her draft is addressed to the fund's pitch address, marked for her. The other 18 use the address on the fund's team page.
    • All 19 intros are cold emails. The inbox has no earlier thread with any of these funds or partners.

A seed-stage agent for family admin

Hi Ines, I'm Nadia Raman, and we haven't met. I'm writing cold because you led the seed round for a household-errands agent, which is close to what I'm building: an agent that handles the forms, bookings and refills a busy family never gets around to. I'm raising a seed round and looking for investors who already believe people will hand errands to an agent. Could I send you a two-page summary, or is a 20-minute call easier? Thanks for reading, Nadia

Third personal-assistant agent for your list?

Hi Tobias, I'm Nadia Raman, and we haven't met. You backed two personal-assistant agents at seed, so you've seen how hard it is to get people to trust one with real tasks. I'm building an agent that handles the forms, bookings and refills a busy family never gets around to. I'm raising a seed round. May I send a two-page summary and what we've learned so far about trust? Thanks for reading, Nadia

An agent for the parents' to-do list

Hi Amara, I'm Nadia Raman, and we haven't met. I'm writing cold because you backed a shopping agent for parents at seed. I'm building an agent for the rest of a parent's list: the forms, bookings and refills a busy family never gets around to. I'm raising a seed round. Would a two-page summary be useful, or would you rather start with a short call? Thanks for reading, Nadia

    • Met: the cancellation, the credit offer and the refund promise are on file with dates
    • Met: the airline's answer on the refund is recorded from a call
    • Met: the request states each amount owed and where it must be paid
    • Open: the refund is back on Grace's cardNot yet. The airline gave no date, and the request waits for your OK.
    • The call notes match the recording, amount by amount.
    • The rule in the request is quoted word for word from transportation.gov, not from the airline's email.
    • The Sep 19 email offered a credit and did not mention a refund. The DOT page says an airline making that offer must also let you know that you are entitled to one. The request does not argue the point. It asks for the money.
    • Grace joined the call for 50 seconds for the identity check. Nothing was agreed on her behalf.
    • Still open: the money. The airline gave no date, so the request asks for one in writing.

Refund request: flight 412, case •••7714

Dear Customer Relations, I am writing about case •••7714. Bluestem Air canceled flight 412, Chicago O'Hare to Denver, on Saturday, September 19, and offered me a travel credit. On Monday, September 21 I declined the credit in chat and was told my refund would be processed. As of October 12 nothing has been returned to my card. By phone today, your agent told Yatir, the AI assistant calling for me, that my ticket refund of $318.60 was approved but was issued as a travel credit, and that it has been sent to your refunds team to reissue to my card. I do not accept a travel credit or a voucher. Please refund $318.60 to the credit card I paid with. I also paid $24.00 for seat selection on the same flight. Your agent said it is not on the case and to include it here. Please add it to this case and refund it to the same card. The U.S. Department of Transportation states: "A consumer is entitled to a refund if the airline cancelled a flight, regardless of the reason, and the consumer chooses not to travel or accept travel credits, vouchers, or other forms of compensation offered by the airline" (transportation.gov/individuals/aviation-consumer-protection/refunds). The same page says the refund "must be provided within 7 business days (for credit card purchases)", and that a consumer is entitled to a refund of fees paid for ancillary services, advance seat selection among them, when the service was unavailable through no fault of the consumer. I declined the credit on September 21. Seven business days ended on September 30. Please reply in writing with the date the $318.60 will reach my card, and with your answer on the $24.00. Sincerely, Grace Cole
